Now I have realized Global is so much more than just a program where you travel around the world. In Global you meet amazing people and you spend all of your school days with as well as those once in a lifetime trips. You bond with them and soon enough you are all best friends, helping each other through intense projects and assignments. In Global Perspectives you are pushed to be the best you can be by four amazing teachers who are there with you through it every step of the way. Since starting Global I have been able to learn to manage my time much better than I have before. I have learnt to do my very best and to push myself to give 100% effort into everything I do. I have learnt to bond with people and to be comfortable outside of my comfort zone or my “little bubble”, and to make the absolute best out of everything that is thrown my way. Global perspectives is truly a once in a life time opportunity that has changed me into a better, more globally aware person. A better person than I could ever hope to be and that I am very thankful to have developed into. Favourite Global Memory? My favourite Global memory was when we were in Cuba and my Cuban counterpart took her other partner and I to her house in Matanzas. While we were there she introduced us to her family and they welcomed us as if we were a part of their family. How has Global changed you? Global has helped me to become more responsible and to push myself to do my best work for everything that I do. Traveling to different countries with the Global family has made me very aware of how I work with others and how much I truly love the people who have walked this journey with me. Through all of the stressful projects and close deadlines I have learnt so much about myself and how much I really can do when I put my head to it. Advice for future globalites? Jump in, do things you would normally be scared to do, take chances and put all of your heart into it. Don't waste a second sitting on the sidelines of a volleyball game in Cuba, or a heated in class debate and volunteer to play center in a game of soccer with the Germans because why not? Make the best of your time with these amazing people because time will fly and soon you'll be on the plane home from Germany wondering where the time went. |
